Mastering
The final step before release

  • Songs, EPs and albums
  • Online too
  • Streaming-ready

Mastering is the final step before release: it gives your songs the level, balance and consistency they need to sound finished on any platform and any playback system, and makes the whole record hang together as one.

At Séptimo Cielo we master in the studio and also remotely. And when a project calls for it, we work alongside trusted external mastering engineers, so every record gets the treatment it deserves.

  2. Leave some headroomNo limiter or maximiser on the master bus, and leave a little headroom so the peaks don't hit 0 dBFS.
  3. Add a referenceOne or two songs by other artists whose sound you like help us understand what you're after.
  4. Receive your masterWe send you the mastered files to review and, once you sign them off, we deliver them ready for distribution.
Mixing and mastering

What's the difference?

In the mix, all the tracks are worked on separately to balance instruments and vocals. In mastering, we work on the finished stereo mix to give it its final polish and prepare it for release.

That's why it's best approached with fresh ears and in a different room from the one it was mixed in: it's the last chance to catch details before your music goes out into the world.
